Appreciate where you’re coming from, Sam, and I like being challenged on my articles. You’re right about how I didn’t reach my 2021 goal of 1k/mo on Udemy too.
However, making a Udemy course can open the door to many opportunities which I talk about in the article (consulting, affiliates, other platforms, etc), and these opportunities have helped me surpass my 2021 goal. This is why I think making an online course is worthwhile. It’s an investment. My earnings per hour have also been increasing as I explained in the article.
As for Louise:
- She was making five figures a month pre-covid. There’s nothing to suggest she still isn’t.
- She explained to me that around 80% of her sales came from Udemy organic, meaning when people search for courses on Udemy. She hasn’t posted on YouTube in over 2 years.
- She splits profits 50–50 with people she co-creates courses with.
For the record, I’ve only been writing on Medium for two years, and 12 of my 180+ articles are just about Udemy. I like to write about Udemy because I think it’s a great way for people to make their first dollar online. Making your first $1 from selling digital products completely rewires your brain.
Thanks for taking the time to read and comment, Sam, and happy to jump on a call if you want to discuss this further :)
